2019 Theme & Goals
Couple of years ago I came across a post discussing themes for the year. At first I thought it was silly. What I later realized is that creating a theme for your year can really help you focus and stay on the path you are creating for your life. This year I have two themes. Both work together but I felt that I still needed to incorporate my theme from last year.
Last year I decided on Love with a focus on Self-love as my theme. Last year ended up being a real test of this. I felt that I should extend it over to this year. Love (self-love) is a sub theme I guess you can say, with the main theme being Connect. Connect to nature, my family and friends, work, my purpose. I have allowed myself time and time against to disconnect and end up finding myself further and further from my ultimately desire for my life. I decided to take control of my life fully and reconnect with myself and connect in all other areas of my life. Taking more chances as they present themselves, meeting new people, being more engaged, etc. The list can go on and on.
Having a theme can be really beneficial for multitude of reasons. A theme for the year can really help you focus on the goals for the long term but more importantly, in my opinion, immediately goals you need to knock out to help you get your life in gear. A theme doesn’t have to be one word. It could be a phrase or a whole paragraph. The point is to make sure you are very clear on what goals will be reached and helped by decided on a theme.
As for goals, I decided to set them on a quarterly basis always keeping the ultimate goal in mind. I felt this allowed me to re-evaluate every 3 months to see where I am at and what I need to adjust. This also felt less heavy. Sitting down and planning out your life to a certain extent can really help get the ball rolling in your favor. It helps set the intentions so the universe and yourself know what you need to work on. This is your life, make sure you are calling the shots.
Do you set themes as well as goals for the year? What was you theme this year? Share with me in the comments.
